In a country with a remarkable Christian tradition, where 97% of the people claim to be Christians, this percent is decreasing as people become more attracted to other doctrines like: evolutionism, existentialism, deism, oriental religions, new age.
This is why a growing number of Christians, NGO’s or other media groups are concerned about presenting a true alternative:
our lives, the world we live in is not the result of a random evolutionary process!
Alfa Omega and Creationism
As a result of understanding these needs, Alfa Omega has been producing and distributing a series of TV shows called “The Verdict of Science”, for over 2 years now. The guest speakers are important scientists and theologians, who explain to the Romanian viewers the differences between the scientific creationism and other life and world concepts, emphasizing the importance of understanding both our roots and future.
With dozens of programs about creationism, produced in its own studios, Alfa Omega has become the main content provider of media resources that support creationism.
Creation week
Between the 10th and the 16th of April 2006, over 30 television station, with local, national or satellite coverage, aired the programs distributed by Alfa Omega TV.
The week of creationism in Timisoara, ended, this year, with a conference held by Emil Silvestru, PhD in geology (Answers in Genesis) and theologian Romulus Campan (Creation Research).
They presented some lectures about this theme.
The conference ended with a movie festivity. It featured, for the first time in Romania, scientific documentaries form the “intelligent design” sequence: Discovering the Mystery of Life and The Privileged Planet.
Annually, the Alfa Omega TV studio organizes a creationism week, with representatives of the scientific creationism domain, professors, theologians, priests and pastors.
The purpose of this event is to offer a Christian alternative to the evolutionism, officially taught in schools and public institutions
